Confident Chloe Claims Caribbean Silver

In the Girls U-15 singles competition at the Caribbean Region Junior Table Tennis Championship, National Indoor Gymnasium, Guyana, Chloe Fraser of Trinidad & Tobago won the silver medal.

The Dominican Republic’s Arianna Estrella defeated France-based Fraser 3-0 (15:13; 11:9; 11:6) in the championship match on Saturday. The game was considerably closer than the score indicated, but Estrella emerged victorious at the vital stages.

Fraser overcame an early setback to defeat Dafne Sosa of the Dominican Republic 3-1 in the semi-final round (4:11; 11:8; 12:10; 11:7). In the second semifinal, Estrella defeated her countrywoman Yesmeily Guerrero 3-2 (7:11; 14:12; 9:11; 12:10; 11:8).

Imani Edwards-Taylor, who also represented Trinidad and Tobago in the senior competition, was defeated by Cuban Estela Crespo in the Girls U-19 singles semifinals 4-0 (11:8; 11:1; 11:8; 11:5). Shary Munoz of the Dominican Republic won the other semifinal matchup by defeating Josielienne Boekhoudt of Aruba 4-1. (11:6; 11:6; 11:8; 9:11; 11:7). Afterwards, Munoz defeated Crespo 4-0 (11:7; 11:8; 13:11; 11:9) to win the gold medal.

With 12 medals, TT completed the campaign (six silver, six bronze).

Team U-15 Boys, Team U-15 Girls, Team U-19 Girls, Team U-15 Boys Doubles, Team U-15 Girls Doubles, and Team U-15 Girls Singles all won silver medals.

U-19 Boys Team, U-19 Girls Doubles, U-15 Girls Doubles, U-15 Mixed Doubles, U-19 Mixed Doubles, and U-19 Girls Singles all won bronze medals.
